Setting up your vouchers
Type your shop's name, a heading and the value. The value is free text, so it can be an amount (£25, $50) or a service (“one cut and finish”). Every voucher gets its own serial number from the prefix, first number and digits you choose: prefix GV-, first number 1 and four digits give GV-0001, GV-0002 and so on. Start the next batch where this one ended, so no number is used twice.
The stub repeats the serial, value and expiry, with spaces to note when the voucher was sold and redeemed. Cut it off and keep it, or keep the serial register instead: a spreadsheet file with one row per voucher and a column for the redemption date.
Rules on gift vouchers differ between countries and states, such as how long a voucher must stay valid, whether unused balances can be refunded and what terms you may set. Check what applies where you trade before you choose an expiry date and write your terms. These are vouchers you issue and honour yourself; Bright Coupon does not issue, sell or redeem anything.
To stop copies, print on card, sign or stamp each voucher, and check the serial against your register when it comes back.
